The thing most people walk past

The well went with Miriam

The water fails in the verse after she is buried. The text does not comment. Readers have taken it for centuries as a quiet acknowledgement that something the community depended on had been hers.

One verse to carry

ye believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel.
Numbers 20:12

The most argued-over verse about Moses. Nobody agrees what exactly he did wrong, and the argument itself is part of the tradition.

A question to sit with

Moses gets forty years of pressure and one bad moment, and loses the land. Is the story about punishment, or about what leadership costs?
