Leviticus 9:1–11:47

- 02
Nadab and Abihu bring 'strange fire, which he commanded them not', and are consumed.

'And Aaron held his peace.' The service continues.
- 04
Then the laws of what may and may not be eaten.
The thing most people walk past
Two words for grief
'Vayidom Aharon' — and Aaron was silent. The Bible does not explain the deaths and does not make Aaron speak. It leaves a father's silence on the page and moves on, which is closer to how loss actually goes.
One verse to carry
And Aaron held his peace.
Sometimes the most faithful thing in the room is a person who does not say anything at all.
A question to sit with
The text gives no adequate reason for what happened. Is a book more honest when it refuses to explain, or less?
There is no answer key. This is the part you take with you.
