What happens
- 01
Jacob dreams of a ladder set on the earth with its top in heaven, and angels going up and down.
- 02
He works seven years for Rachel, is given Leah, and works seven more.
- 03
Children are born into a household of rivalry, and each name records somebody's ache.
- 04
After twenty years he leaves with his family and flocks, and Laban chases him.
The thing most people walk past
God was already there
'Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.' He is nowhere special — a roadside, at night, on the run. The point is that there is no such thing as a place God is not.
One verse to carry
Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
If you are looking for God in a building or a country, this verse moves the search. It happens where you already are.
A question to sit with
The deceiver is deceived, on his wedding night, by a swap of the older for the younger. Is that justice or just repetition?
There is no answer key. This is the part you take with you.
